Problem: As part of trip approval process, we want a way to map traveller to their department and having approver to each department

Trip approval requires your booking to be reviewed by your supervisor in your department, especially if your itenarary (hotel or flight) are out of policy. This process involved group or department structure that has a listed member which we currently dont have.
The primary goal when we built department page was to enable employee asking for approval from their department supervisors when claiming for their expense. We allow them to create department with each approver attached. Another goal was to give employee and employer a relevant insight over their travel spends. Current mechanism has just enough power to do it.

But now we want to do more,
Not only when claiming your expense, we also want approval mechanism to be part of travel experience. This might come useful especially when itinerary, either hotel or flight are out of policy and need supervisor approval before proceed to book. By tackling this issues well we can save company costs, enforce travel policy and having more control on their spending.
